Why buy something from someone without the enginering experience
and the manufacturer's direct support?
DC Servo Background:
In years perfecting Fadals DC servo system, we worked with just about every amplifier manufacture at one time or other and there's many good reasons why Glentek was chosen as the primary supplier (more below).
Today there are many people selling counterfeit amplifiers on the internet.
Typically the counterfeits use a smaller generic brand amplifier and adapted it to fit a Glentek style L mounting plate . Of course they make all kinds of unsubstantiated claims about it being equal to or "better" than the Glentek amplifier. One typical substitute uses the BR-1525 by Servo Dynamics Inc. and claim it has "more power". When actually it has only a 15 amp continuous rating with a 25 amp peak output.
Fact is that's only 75% of the current needed for the MTR-0002, let alone the larger MTR-0010 (it needs 30 amps).
- The Glentek AMP-0006 provides 20 amp continuous duty with a 40 amp peak output.
- The Glentek AMP-0021 provides 30 amp continuous duty with a 60 amp peak output.

Here's Five Good Reasons Why It's Important To Buy Only OEM Amplifiers:

Performance - the basic function of the
AMP-0021 amplifier operates as a
Velocity Closed Loop system; that regulates the speed and
response of the motor rotation. The custom settings for the
internal velocity feedback and speed command relationship of the
amplifiers were carefully tuned for maximum performance years
ago during our initial development. Dynamic performance requires
matched (exactly) components not imitations. Sure the motor
might rotate but that doesn't mean the contouring of the
machine is accurate.

Current Output - amplifiers are not equal in current (power) output ratings. The factory outputs are matched for specific motor windings. Too little and the motor loses torque (thrust). Too much; motors windings will over heat, destroying the insulation and/or windings. The basic fact is that a motor can only take so much current; more current doesn't mean more power. To much current will burn out the motor.

Internal Circuit Breakers - AMP-0021 amplifiers have internal circuit breakers, just like a home electrical system. These designs protect both the amplifier and the motor by automatically "folding back" the current output to it's continuous rating or shutting off all power (fault) output. Without the correct design; using both High Speed and Low Speed Circuit Breakers, too much current will over heat, melt the insulation and "fry" the motor, permanently damaging it beyond repair.

UL-CE-CSA Electrical Ratings - commonly, substitute or "imitation" amplifiers have not gone through the process of having the amplifier design approved by the rigorous testing for safety and RF standards. Qualified components must be used In order to maintain these ratings for the machine and not impact it's overall Electrical Code approval of your machine. Let alone the resale value.

New or Used? - beware, some components are being sold as "new" when actually they are just cleaned-up and sold as "new". The manufactures serial number is the only way to tell if the unit is new and has all the latest design revisions.
